BLK VAN GOGH Jada S Haynes Portfolio

This body of work, Convergence, is a coming together of pieces from silently violent series, 4 new pieces created in the last 2 months, and found objects or objects that have held memories for me during the last 2 years of my fiber practice.

My work at large explores themes of desire, security, survival and transformation within the context of Black queer bodies. Convergence is a landscape visually represented through the suspended, dynamic interplay of weaving and blending tension, scale, and mirroring the complexities of the emotional, historical, and personal aspects of these themes. All of these landscapes were made in transitions and periods of emotional impermanence for them all to meet here on one plane. I intend for this work to show this convergence as an aspect of empowerment and agency, not victimhood.
