redacted. is a video poem of what it's like to experience life as an artist, the good and definitely the bad. I think as artists we spend a lot of time hiding the “photoshop layers'' of our practice. We add an artist statement, a caption, or a conversation over drinks, but rarely delve into the mental and emotional toll art takes on us. I’ve found that at my most chaotic and emotional, I pull out the best of ideas. Presenting myself in this manner means my direction and narrative are motivated by a perspective that is systemically obscured, adapted, redacted… This piece is a compilation of the work I’ve made as an artist, my exploration of identity, life, and the artist’s ego. It includes quotes from established artists and writers, as well as giving life to manifestos that act in the place of interviews from the people I care about (and care for me when I don’t) most.
