Quarantine and its isolation have deeply impacted our sense of human interaction and community. Innocent actions like studying with your classmates or hanging out in your backyard with friends are considered highly dangerous nowadays. After almost one year since the pandemic started, our understanding of what is to gather with people in a common space has changed. What do we understand now as a common space? How Zoom has become a simulation of a common space? Can we generate, through the combination of visual and sound elements, the virtual illusion of being in the same space even if we are not?

The focus of this imagery, instructions., and performance is transporting the audience to different environments as a way to integrate them into shared common experiences. We will be transitioning through elements of spoken word, inserting ourselves into illusionary pre-made video segments, and live/choreographed interactions between both artists on zoom.

This piece was in collaboration with the playwright and artist Verónica Díaz-Muñiz.
